Why Peru?

The word “Peru” is usually accompanied by the phrases “Machu picchu!” and “I love your country's food”. Peru cultivates a magic everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime. It emanates its history through each street explored, tune heard, and of course through every plate tasted.

Peru’s capital city Lima, is the culinary capital of South America, for good reason. Peru carries a melting pot of culinary influences that many don't know about but love to eat. We have an afro-peruvian fusion that shows in dishes such as anticuchos, and cau-cau. We also have a merge of Chinese-Peruvian food known as Chifa. Chifa basically is Peruvian Chinese food which is proven to be an amazing combination. Finally my personal favourite, is a Japanese-Peruvian fusion style called Nikkel. It’s no wonder Peru won eight consecutive awards from the world leading culinary destinations and is 2023’s winner yet again.

We didn't choose Peru solely on its gastronomy (although a big factor). Peru is considered a megadiverse nation. It carries an ecosystem like no other, all harmonically living together in peace and tranquillity. La costa, la sierra, y la selva. Translated meaning the coast, the highlands, and the amazons, you get all of it in one country, Peru. You can feel the uniqueness of each town visited, and the patriotism of the civilians for their home. Peru’s offerings are one of a kind, from textiles to oils. To things I didn't know I needed, till I was gifted with it. Peru doesn't give us any reason to ask why, but deserves a thank you for allowing us to share in its richness.
